Characteristics of headache disorders, according to ICHD-III in an outpatient headache clinic in Sohag Governorate, Egypt

Abstract Background Headache disorders are rated among the ten most disabling conditions around world. The primary headache more common that of secondary headache. third edition International Classification Disorders (ICHD-III) is considered as a helpful tool for classification and diagnosis different disorders. Methods This cross-sectional study included 500 patients who attended to clinic, between May 2018 April 2019. Arabic version questionnaire was used characterize headache, according ICHD-III. Results Primary were found in 89% (most them episodic nature 76.2%), about 10%, painful cranial neuropathy present 0.8%. associated with sexual activity 1% total number patients, cluster Medication overuse (MOH) frequent 2.8% when overlaps chronic migraine or tension type (TTH), percent 12.8% 8.8% respectively. Male female ratio 1:3, 3:5, 1:1 Simple analgesia abortive therapy (44.8%) while antidepressants preventive treatment (17%). Conclusion estimates frequency characterizes disorders, ICHD-III an outpatient clinic at Sohag Governorate, Egypt.
